Abilene Christian University is a private, 4-year institution associated with the Churches of Christ. The 250-acre site is in Abilene, Texas, 180 miles from the Fort Worth/Dallas area. ACU boasts a student/faculty ratio of 15:1, and all their 5,210 pupils are provided with an iPhone or iPod touch as part of the institution’s mobile-learning initiative. ACU offers a total of 70 undergraduate majors in over 135 areas of study. The school also has several graduate degree options. ACU is pleased with its pre-med program, and its students are accepted into medical schools at more than twice the national rate. For fun, students participate in a variety of activities, and the institution boasts 100 student organizations and clubs. As of 2019, ACU plays in the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. The institution won dozens of national sports championships when it played at the Division II level.
