Dr. Brooke A. Flinders Named New President of Frontier Nursing University

Frontier Nursing University (FNU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brooke A. Flinders as its new President. Dr. Flinders, a renowned nurse educator and leader, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, having spent the past 20 years in various academic and administrative positions within the field of nursing education.

As a pioneer in nursing education, Dr. Flinders has a remarkable track record of innovation and commitment to excellence. She has spent over 15 years at the University of Tennessee College of Nursing, where she served as a Professor and Associate Dean, and most recently, as Interim Dean. During her tenure, she was instrumental in developing and implementing numerous curricular changes, including the creation of online and hybrid programs, as well as establishing a new Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

Dr. Flinders has a deep understanding of the ever-changing landscape of healthcare and the critical role that nurses play in delivering high-quality patient care. Her passion for education and mentorship has made her a sought-after speaker and consultant, both nationally and internationally. She has authored numerous publications on topics such as curriculum design, distance education, and workforce development.

As President of FNU, Dr. Flinders will lead the organization’s efforts to advance nursing education and research, while ensuring that graduates are equipped to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare system. She will focus on building partnerships with healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and government agencies to leverage opportunities for interprofessional collaboration, workforce development, and healthcare innovation.

Dr. Flinders will assume her new role on July 1, 2023, and will be based at FNU’s headquarters in Hyden, Kentucky.
