Sticky Notes is a useful built-in application on Windows 10 and 11, providing users the ability to jot down important information, reminders, and ideas. However, sometimes you may find yourself needing to keep your Sticky Notes on top of other windows while multitasking. In this article, we will show you how to ensure your Sticky Notes always stay on top as you work.
Step 1: Open Sticky Notes
First, locate the Sticky Notes app on your Windows PC. You can search for it in the Start menu or the search bar by typing “Sticky Notes.” Click on the app to launch it. If you haven’t used Sticky Notes before, it may prompt you to sign in with your Microsoft account.
Step 2: Create a New Note
Once the Sticky Notes app is open, click on the “+” icon in the top left corner to create a new note. The note will appear as a small window that you can modify by resizing and positioning it wherever you’d like on your screen.
Step 3: Enable “Always on Top” Feature
To make your newly created note always stay visible and appear above other windows, follow these steps:
1. Click anywhere in the note’s text area to activate it.
2. In the top right corner of the note window, you will see a three-dot menu icon. Click on this icon.
3. A dropdown menu will appear with several options. Look for “Always on Top” and click on it.
Now, your Sticky Note should remain visible regardless of which window or application you’re working in.
Step 4: Disable “Always on Top” (Optional)
If you wish to remove this setting from your note, simply repeat Step 3 and click on “Always on Top” again in the dropdown menu. This action will toggle off the setting, and your note will no longer stay on top of other windows.
Step 5: Close or Delete Sticky Notes
When you have finished using the Sticky Note, you can close it by clicking the “x” in the top right corner. To delete it, click on the trash can icon found in the same menu as the “Always on Top” option.
Keeping Sticky Notes on top of other windows can be incredibly beneficial for productivity and multitasking. By following these simple steps, you can make sure that your essential notes and reminders remain visible while working in Windows 10/11.
