Many students today may not see this transformation because they have grown up with rapidly evolving technology and the ability to have access to information at their fingertips. Teachers and parents, on the other hand, have gotten the chance to see the evolution of technology and education first hand. In just the past decade alone, the use of technology and mobile devices in the classroom has rapidly increased. No longer are the days of highlighting passages in textbooks and taking notes with a pencil. Read below for ways that EdTech is transforming education for the better.

    No mention of assessment, which has changed little, as is perhaps more traditional than ever. High stakes single point in time on your own with no help from external resources.

    Your dismissal of textbooks ignores overwhelming research which identifies clear advantages from reading from paper with ability to annotate gives better ‘test results’ -again assessment has not changed.

    ‘easily bored’..we were always easily bored!!
    however whereas we had passive boredom, students recently are actively bored..if they have an iPad they just go elsewhere! ..part of the reason for chromebook success is the ability to control and lockout these ‘distractions’..
    VR while clever is still passive..
    unless and until VR becomes interactive and generates analytics then it too will be like Kahn academy..well built but dependent on the learner to construct their own understandings

    too little has been made of the smart aspects of technology.
    most advances are purely cost savings on distribution of resources
    impact on learning minimal
    impact on teaching huge, as there is higher expectations to create ‘something new AND exciting!” when it is really the same ‘ol study thing..

    most implementations of ‘Flipped classroom’ are watching video lectures at home..or HOMEWORK!..more correctly schoolwork at home!!
    amazingly students who ‘do homework’ score better on these traditional tests..

    not much has changed..
    at least IWB ( which are not interactive nor white boards) are cheaper or are being removed..a mousepad on a wall with teacher front and centre was never an improvement
    it was a change..but as we have always known change improvement

  2. Edtech has seen a tremendous growth over the years and this trend has been reinforced by increased internet penetration, cheap gadgets and a reliable education system that embraces technology.
    The transformations have been mind boggling and the education environment has been made available to many.

  3. The answer I would give is yes. I have never witnessed such a sector that has experienced such huge growth over the years and still enjoys the full benefits of embracing technology.I am a beneficiary of these inventions and cannot stop advocating for more changes in the sector to improve the learning environment of students.
